Men With Heart

Avon Walk 2009 Team Page

Dear Fellow Walkers and Friends

My name is Angelo, and I met many of you at the 3-day last August where we walked the Susan G. Komen together and at the Avon walk last year where we crewed Pit Stop 2. Well, it’s time to get ready for this year’s events.

I was asked by the MWH board to be the Walking Captain for the 2009 2-Day Avon Walk. The event will take place on May 16 and 17. This will be my first time leading such a great group of people so I will need and use as much help as I can get. I am writing to ask you to consider joining me on the Avon team.

I have already registered for the walk and have set up our team page, so when you register make sure you join the “Men With Heart” team. Please let me know when you register and try to forward me all your contact info for our database. As a team, we will train together, help fundraise together, and share tips and experiences as we prepare for the 40-mile walk. We will keep in touch till the day of the walk. I will update you about all the Avon events and I will also send reminders about training walks. You can also find me and the Men with Heart at Facebook for daily communication.

If you are interested in walking in the Avon, we will be attending the Avon “Great Start” party on January 24 in Waltham. Click here for more information.

To sign up for the Avon, please click here and pick the “Men With Heart” team.

Sincerely

Evangelos Liapis

    Angelo,
This is my 6th Avon Walk and my 10th year as breast cancer survivor. My husband is member of motorcycle crossing guard crew. This year, my 2 sons want to do the Avon Boston walk with me. They are interested in MWH. I was wondering how the team helps each other in fund raising. They plan to do their own campaigns but as college students, they are worried about ability to reach the 1,800 goal.

Angelo, nice job as Captain of our team. What an incredible weekend we just experienced! It was physically draining, but emotionally uplifting. Look forward to seeing you next year.
