Angelo’s Breast Cancer Walk Page

Dear Friends,
The time of the year has come again.
Yes, I’m doing it again – I signed up for the Breast Cancer 3-Day and the Avon 2-day Breast Cancer Walk for 2011! I had such an incredible experience walking the 3-Day in 2010 that I’m going back for more. Once again this year I will be the walking with an incredible team of guys called Men With Heart.
Do you remember when the word “cancer” was only spoken in hushed tones? Well, it’s time for me and you to start making noise and taking action against this disease that has devastated many families. Cancer claimed the lives of two good friends last year, my high school friend Veta in Greece and our sweetheart Ipswich VFW bartender and fellow poker player Debbie. Even though the money will not bring either back, we can raise awareness for prevention and cure. Last week I met personally my first male breast cancer survivor, a wonderful guy named Peter Deveraux. This week will be his last treatment, and he is full force restarting his life.
Without a cure, an estimated 5 million Americans will be diagnosed with breast cancer – and more than 1 million could die – over the next 25 years. That’s a pretty startling statistic. No one should have to face this disease, so we walk in order to create a future without breast cancer. Walking 60 miles was hard, but I will keep walking until breast cancer is no longer. I walk because everyone deserves a lifetime. I walk because I can.
