Mike Fernald

About twenty five (25) years ago breast cancer touched my life in a very close way. My future mother-in-law lost her battle with this horrible disease and died at the young age of 41. Since then, breast cancer has reared its ugly head in my life more than a few times. Friends of mine, one I went to high school with and another I met through my wife, were diagnosed with breast cancer. It is because of these people as well as the fact that I can, that I walk in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk. I will be walking for 20 miles each day with hundreds of men and women trying to make a difference and a change!! This will be my 5th walk, and the first year all 4 of my family members will be able to walk together, as Abby just turned 16. For the past four (4) years Abby has been a member of the Youth Corp. Ashley will be flying home to walk with us as well. We have all made a commitment to take part in the efforts to eradicate this sinister life altering and sometimes life taking disease.
