1) When did MWH start?
Men With Heart was formed in 2001 by Paul Boulanger. Visit our history page for more info.

2) What do you guys do?
Men With Heart is a group of men committed to fighting breast cancer. We participate in a variety of events to raise funds for breast cancer treatment, prevention, support, and awareness. We award grants to a number of cancer groups each year, ranging from grassroot organizations to major medical research centers.

3) I’m a woman, can I join?
Woman are welcome to join us as supporters of our organization; can participate in all our events; and can raise funds for the cause. Please contact us for more information.

4) Does it cost anything to join?
MWH is an all-volunteer organization. There are no fees to join, but there are costs that occur throughout the year, including fund-raising expenses (stamps, envelopes, etc.); mandatory walk clothing (t-shirts); optional other gear (poncho, fleece); and other minor costs.

5) How can I donate?
You can donate to Men With Heart by making a credit card pledge or by sending us a check.

6) Is my donation tax deductible?
Men With Heart is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt organization. Donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law.

7) Is MWH just in Boston?
Although our members come from all over the country, we currently concentrate our efforts in the Boston area.

8 ) Can I start my own team?
We have often been asked by walkers if they can establish a Men With Heart team in other cities. However, due to liability, legal, and reputational issues, we have resisted these requests thus far. But if you are really keen on starting a team, let’s chat!

9) What do you do with the money you raise?
The money raised is distributed to a number of breast cancer organizations, including the Avon Foundation, the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the American Cancer Society, and other groups. See our “Grants Awarded” page for more details.

10) Can I help without being a member?
Yes. You can donate or volunteer. You can recruit new members. You can cheer us on at our events.

11) Do I have to be a good singer?
