As you may already know, I am actively involved in a New-England based charity, Men With Heart (www.menwithheart.org).

Men With Heart is an organization of men dedicated to eradicating breast cancer by raising awareness and funds and motivating men in the fight. Personally, I walk in honor of my mother, Jo Ann Walters, a 15-year breast cancer survivor. I will be walking in my 11th & 12th overnight walks in 2010.

Since I am walking in both the Boston Avon 2-Day walk and the Komen 3-Day walk, I need to raise a minimum of $4,200 and walk 100 miles. Raising that kind of money is a huge task in this economy. I am writing to ask for your help reaching my fund raising goals in this, my 9th year walking.

These walks are inspiring events that bring together wonderful people to fight breast cancer. Our team stands out among the predominantly women walkers. We wear bright yellow shirts; we carry backpacks filled with supplies (chocolates, band-aids, Vaseline, etc.); and we sing songs to our fellow walkers. At the end of every day, we line up at the finish line to cheer in every walker until the very last walker has passed. These small acts symbolize our effort to show men care about the fight against breast cancer too.

It’s not too late for you to join our efforts. As captain of the Komen team, I am actively recruiting guys to join (July 23, 24 & 25). Feel free to drop me an email if you are interested.
